Frequently Asked Questions

Yes - but the best way to experience Satorikan is to join in!
Jūjutsu has been written in several ways in Western languages, including jujutsu, ju jutsu, ju-jutsu, ju jitsu, ju-jitsu and, historically, jiu-jitsu. These variations reflect different approaches to romanising Japanese. At Satorikan, we use jūjutsu, which is the spelling we feel most accurately reflects the Japanese 柔術. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) evolved from earlier Japanese jūjutsu traditions and has its own distinct history and emphasis.

Remember, everyone who trains at Satorikan attended their first lesson once. We’d love to help you take yours.
